BUC Worship At Home Experience Sunday Oct. 10

Date: October 10, 2021/Speaker: Rita Cattell

Rev Rita’s Message – Listen to the full message here

(You are invited to have a candle ready to light.)

To begin play“We Plough the Fields”

Then say – Let us celebrate the wondrous gifts that God has given us. Throughout all our lives, God has blessed us with love and hope. Praise be to God who provides for us. May our hearts be truly grateful, and may we show our gratitude by the ways in which we live and care for others.

Light the candle and pray- O God, we praise you for the richness of your blessings, the abundance of your creation, the potential for goodness in each of us, and the love you have shown us in Jesus. Open our spirits to your wisdom, our hearts to your love, and our wills to your service so that our lives might reflect your glory and our world reflect kindness and gratitude. Amen.

Play –  “We Give Our Thanks”

Read the Scripture Reading – Philippians 4:4-9 (Paul’s advice about living life with thanksgiving.)

Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad. Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thanksful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel. Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example. And God, who gives peace, will be with you.

Play – “Ev’ry Day is a Day of Thanksgiving”

Then pray followed by the Lord’s Prayer- Holy and Living God, in this Thanksgiving year of 2021, when we are separated from family and friends, when it’s hard to travel and gather together, and celebrate Thanksgiving as we’ve done in the past, help us to embrace what is. Help us to give thanks within the uncertainty. In all things, may we open our hearts and give You thanks. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Play –  “The Thanksgiving Song”

To end this time of worship say- Gratitude before me, gratitude behind me, gratitude to the left of me, gratitude to the right of me, gratitude above me, gratitude below me, gratitude all around me. Amen.
