Welcome and Announcements
We gather to share our vision, to be a church for both young and old, who
seek to explore their faith through a progressive theology applied to
everyday life. We seek to be open and accepting of all who walk through our
day.

Call to Worship
From harvested fields, from cooling days and lessening light,
we come.
From dwellings large and small, from homes poor and rich,
we come.
From pain and joy, from celebration and mourning,
we come.
We come:
seeking meaning and substance;
yearning for welcome and for purpose;
to belong and to become.
Let us pray together:
our lives are full…
full of the hurly-burly of frenetic living,
full of striving to do our best in the world.
We come this morning just as we are,
ready to receive what we need this day. Amen
Hymn God of the Bible MV 28
Opening Prayer (Barbara Johns, Gathering 2024 adapted)
O Holy One, we come before you this day–
to calm our hearts and minds so we may better
feel your presence and sense the gentle touch of
the Holy Spirit within us;
to quiet the anxiety of our souls so we may better
receive your wisdom, which nudges us
toward compassionate discipleship;
to rejoice in the interconnectedness and beauty of our universe
in its vastness and complexity,
to remember the simple beauty of Christ’s message
that to love him is to know you;
to draw closer to the mystery of you O God, which is a celebration of your limitless love;
and to accept the wonderous gift of your freely offered grace,
which helps us to remember that we
are never alone on the journey. Amen.

Dedication of the Offering
Source of all mercies, today we offer our gifts for the good of the world. Accept these gifts we bring and use them and us, for the betterment of this community and world. With grateful hearts, we your people say, “May it be so.”
Prayers of the People and God’s Prayer
Our Father(Creator), who art in heaven. hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen
Hymn We Are Pilgrims VU 595 (verses 1,3 and 5)
Blessings for the Journey
With the confidence of the presence of God within us and around us,
with the promise of the companionship of Jesus
on every step of our journey,
with the enlivening of the spirit to give us wisdom and direction,
let us go now to be God’s people in the world.
