Potluck Lunch on Oct 5th: As an alternative to our Fall BBQ this year, we are planning a Church Family Hot Dog & Potluck. We want to focus on getting to know our church family members better. Please plan on joining us and bring a dish for the potluck. Name tags will be required so people can become better acquainted with other church members. If you need a name tag, check for the Name Tag announcement to get one
Name Tags: Please wear your name tags so our visiting ministers know who you are. If you don’t have a name tag, please send an email request to balzacunitedchurch@gmail.com or let Ruth Unser know and we will make sure to get you a name tag.
Help Needed: If you or anyone you know is an experienced caregiver, Shan Pletcher is looking for someone to care for an elderly gentleman in his lovely country home near Dalroy. Some evening/overnights and some weekends may be required. If interested, please call Shan at (780)-394-3928
BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS
Job Search Update for Congregation: Our job posting for a new minister was published on the United Church national website, ChurchHub, on Sept 2nd. There are around 250 job postings for open positions across the country with only approximately 120 candidates looking for positions. Please add our job search to your prayer list – that the right person will be looking for a job with a congregation like ours. We have pulpit supply ministers arranged until Nov 30th and are working to fill the Sundays for December and January while we wait.
Sunday School and Youth Leader Position: M&P has been advertising for our open Sunday School position and to date no applications have been received. If you know anyone who might be interested in this paid position to earn a little extra money while learning and gaining experience to add to their resume, please have them send their resume to Brenda Astle at brendaastle7@gmail.com . We are looking to fill the position first and then will focus on getting the children to come.
Foothills North Cluster Meeting, Oct 7, 2025 10:30am – 2:30 pm: Ruth Unser, our Region Representative is unable to attend the next Foothills North cluster meeting in October. If you are interested in learning about the other churches in our area, please consider attending this meeting at Crossfield United Church. Rev Tony Snow will be the guest speaker. Lunch is provided, sometimes for a donation. This is a great opportunity to meet other folks from the rural churches in our area to network and find out how they are managing. Contact Ruth Unser at runser@shaw.ca or 403-289-2715 if you are interested.
