Lighting The Christ Candle

Call to Worship: Easter 2 – Thomas Meets Jesus
Hallelujah, Christ is Risen! (X3)
Christ is risen indeed!
In the Great 50 Days of Easter, the Risen Christ,
Steps through closed doors, speaking peace.
The Risen Christ, commissions us this day,
“ As the Father sent me, so send I you.”
The Risen Christ, blows over us
Renewing us with the wind of the Spirit.
The Risen Christ, in our doubts and struggles,
Encourages us to come alongside Thomas.
The Risen Christ, in this Season of Easter,
Reminds us to gather in the breaking of bread,
Come, let us worship the Risen Christ,
Taking our place with the faithful witnesses.
Opening Song The Day of Resurrection VU 164
Opening Prayer
Candles of Joy, Concern, & Sorrow
(Congregational members are invited to come forward and offer prayer requests
and light candles.)
God of peace,
We pray for all hiding behind closed doors this day –
Those burdened by fear, grief or uncertainty.
Seeking comfort where there is suffering,
Hope where faith is tested,
And peace where hearts are troubled.
Strengthen this church to be a faithful witness,
Sent into the world as Christ was sent,
Bearing signs of resurrection life,
Breathe your Spirit in us once more. Amen.

The Lord’s Supper
Introduction: (Kingsfold Communion Set – MV# 204-206)
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right and good to give our thanks and our praise.
God our Redeemer, in raising Christ from the dead,
You raise us up to new life in Christ.
Holy One, in Jesus, we dare to believe:
in the things we cannot see:
In Jesus love for us
and Jesus’ love for those around us.
Holy One, in the Spirit, we dare to believe:
That another world is possible
That suffering can end and we can play a part:
In the building the kingdom to come.
Holy One, we thank you for joy beyond words,
For faith refined through trial and temptation.
And for the inheritance kept for us
As we sing with all the Saints:
