Lighting the Christ Candle
We gather with a common desire to follow Christ.
We light a candle to recall
that we are the body of Christ,
and the light of Christ shines amongst us.
Call to Worship
Some of us are hurting, some of us are smarting.
All are welcome.
Some of us are very young, some of us are getting old.
All are welcome.
Some of us have hearts of gladness, some of us are filled with grief.
All are welcome.
The strong and the weak,
the faithful and the doubter,
the saint and the sinner,
the regular and the newcomer,
you and me.
All are welcome.

Opening Prayer
God whose love knows no bounds, in our gathering here we celebrate that all are welcome. Open our eyes to a new awareness of how we place conditions on love — yours and ours.
Forgive us and set us free from convention that decrees that love must be earned. Set us free to share your love freely, without condition as those who know the grace of your love and forgiveness.
May our worship here reflect the light of your love and may our praise reach beyond this place to transform the world. In the name of Christ. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven.
hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
